Toronto, Lester B. Pearson Airport

Toronto Pearson International Airport (TPIA) is located 27 km (16 miles) north/west of downtown Toronto and within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) which includes the regions of Durham, York, Halton, Peel and Toronto. The airport - covering 1,792 hectares (4,430 acres) - has been Toronto's main international airport since 1939 when it was first known as Malton Airport.

Transportation to and from the airport is provided by
Hotel shuttle - the cheapest and quickest way to go.

Security is controlled by Canadian Air Transport Security Authority . If you are flying, you will need to follow security rules for carry-on baggage.

When flying back to your home country, please make sure you leave ample time for checking through security, at the airport. Ask the airline for advice on how much time is needed. European flights often recommend 3 hours, while American flights may allow for less time. However, through a special arrangement with the US Government, for flights to the USA, one will have to pass through US customs and US immigration here at the Toronto Airport.

Airport Parking

If for any reason, you or someone else needs to park at the airport, please remember that 7. Airport parking can be expensive for long hours, same as downtown parking. These alternatives are suggested to you:

  • Hotel Courtesy Shuttles - Virtually every airport hotel on Airport Rd/Dixon Rd offers free courtesy shuttles. Parking in their lots have variable rates, some free or as low as $8.25 per day.
  • Long Term Airport parking with shuttle - see note below
  • Toronto Transit - Bus 192 from Kipling station - cost is $2.25 - 20 min service 5:20 am to 2:13 am.
  • Mississauga Transit - Bus 7 from Square One or Westwood Mall - cost is $2.25 - times are infrequent, lengthy and do not start early. Weekend/Holiday schedule in effect.
  • Terminal Parking is prohibitive with daily maximums ranging from $21.75 to $77.00! DO NOT USE! THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES!

GTAA Reduced Rate Parking Now 20% Off
A new 2000-space Reduced Rate Lot is now open. The lot is located at 6135 Airport Road, and includes nine designated disabled parking spaces near the exit booth. The GTAA provides a free 24-hour, wheelchair accessible, shuttle bus service between the Reduced Rate Lot and all three terminals.
Rates: $13 CAD per day (for 20% off= $10.40/day, you need a special coupon )
Shuttle is on 24x7!
